Master Hair Colourist
A newly established salon in Barcelona's vibrant Raval district. Dirty Blonde was founded in 2022 by master hair colourist Grace O'Brien. As her newly minted and in-demand speciality salon started to thrive, Grace needed to automate her booking process, and to have a beautiful digital space to reflect the artistry of her work.
Project Goals
A Beautiful Website & Booking System
The goal was to transform Shopify's system to suit Grace's needs by completely transforming Shopify's frame from one of E-commerce to one of online booking. Given the highly artistic nature of Grace's work it was important for the site to reflect Grace's unique aesthetic, but the site also had to be highly functional to allow her to automate a lot of her admin, as well as to free up time for her to focus on growing her business.

Logo Design
An homage to Country N' Western
Grace's wonderful logo had been designed by a local tattoo artist in honour of her business and was heavily inspired by Grace's deep love of country and Western music. This love inspired the entire project whose imagery was rife with Cadillacs and Nashville-inspired themes. There was an important reflection of Grace's work here, where there was a careful nuance to the work that she does in her salon, work that could never be seen as predictable or replicable.

Our Work
As a brand new business Dirty Blonde really benefited from a brand strategy via which we were able to formulate a unique aesthetic for the site. Pink Cadillacs dotted through the website represented Grace's alchemical skills, as each image showed the Cadillacs revealing trunks full of mysterious instruments. This reflected Grace's interest in astrology, but also a Thelma and Louise style, with evocations of changing your identity through changing your hair while on the run from the law, and living as a fabulous outlaw in the American south. The iconic green and white tiles of the salon that were so important to Grace were a strong artistic element throughout the entire website build. There was a perfect imperfection to the imagery that really resonated with the material richness of the surrounding neighbourhood. We spent a great deal of time focusing on the functionality and aesthetics of her booking system to really make it a seamless experience from both Grace's & her clients' perspectives.

Project Success
This beautiful bespoke website launched with great success, with great excitement for the very talented Grace and for ciara.design. Grace is happily expanding her business rapidly and the automation of her system has really allowed her to focus all of her energy on the expansion of her wonderful enterprise in the heart of Barcelona.
